Regulations

1. The conference is being held under the name ‘VI International Conference of Biotechnology Students’ and ‘XVI National Academic Seminar of Biotechnology Students’

 

2. The conference will take place on 21st -23rd November 2014, in the building of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, Lodz University of Technology, ul. Wólczańska 171/173, 90-924, Lodz.

 

3. The conference is organised byorganising committee established by the Board of the Scientific Association of Biotechnology Students FERMENT.

 

4. Atthe conference oral plenary sessions and poster sessions will be heldin English and Polish. According to chosen language and participation form (oral presentation/poster) adequate certificate will be issued.

 

5. Only original and casuistic works will be accepted (results of own research or review papers). Each participant can submit two works maximum (one oral presentation and one poster). 

 

6. Authors of the work must be university students or PhD students.

 

7. Two people can refer oral presentation. Maximum acceptable number of authors presenting one poster is 3.

 

8. Deadline for registration is 31st October 2014, 23:59.

 

9. Abstracts must be prepared according to the example available on the website http://xvioassb.wix.com/xvioassb.  Abstracts should be sent at the following e-mail address xvioassb@gmail.com. The deadline for sending abstracts is 7th November 2014.

 

10. Submission of the abstract is unambiguous with the acceptance of the regulations of the conference. Consequences resulting from the non compliance with requirements will be suffered by the authors.

 

11. Abstracts must be written in English, regardless of the session on which the work is supposed to be presented. Applicant is responsible for the content and the proper form of the abstract.

 

12. The size of the posters cannot exceed 707 mm x 1000mm (B1, vertical arrangement)

 

13. Participation fees:

 

a) Participantsare obliged to pay conference fee no later than 7 days after submitting the registration form. The conference fee is 50 PLN for the members of the Academic Students’ Society of Biotechnology (ASSB) and 80 PLN for the remaining participants.

 

b) In case of not paying on time, registration will be cancelled.

 

c) Conference fee should be paid by transfer on the following bank account:

d) Payment of the fee entitles to:

- obtaining personalized certificate

- delivery of the own work

- participation in lectures and discussions

- obtaining all conference materials

- participation in social events, workshops etc.

- participation in coffee breaks and lunches

 

e) Paying the fee directly to the organisers on the conference day will not be possible.

 

14. The conference has non comercial character, the entire income from the conference fees will be allocated for covering conference costs.

 

15. Payment confirmation should be sent at the following e-mail address and titled „Conference payment confirmation [name and surname of the participant]”: xvioassb@gmail.com

 

16. Invoices for conference fees payed for bank account of the Academic Students’ Society of Biotechnology will be issued only for request. In order to obtain the invoice, the participant is obliged to fulfill the form available at the website and submit to the organisers required data: NIP number of the university, complete address, name and surname of the participant. 

 

17. Maximum time for oral performance is 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for the discussion. Given time is impassable and will be restrictively observed.

 

18. At authors’ disposal projector will be available. Acceptable presentations formats are: .ppt ; .pptx and .pdf

 

19. All authors of the delivered work have the right to participate in the discussion after finishing presentation. All the remainig participants of the conference have the right to ask questions.

 

20. During each session 3 best presentations will be chosen (1st, 2nd and 3rd place).

 

21. The winners will be determined on the basis of points given by the members of Scientific Committee. In the situation when more than one participant will obtain the same amount of points, the president of the Scientific Committee of given plenary session has a final vote.

 

22. Work elements evaluated by Scientific Committee are: preparation, importance of the problem, way of the presentation, work independence, presentation time, way of answering questions during the discussion.

 

23. The confirmation of the participation in the conference is personalized certificate, and the confirmation of the delivery of the work is work delivery certificate issued after the conference. Organisers have the right to deny issuing certificate in case of unpayed registration fee, no-show or not delivered presentation.

 

24. Contentious issues or those not included in the regulations will be resolved by the president of the Organising Committee.
